An important statement from the General Pension and Social Security Authority for the insured

The General Pension and Social Security Authority confirmed that registration and subscription on behalf of the insured represents the first step towards fulfilling the insurance benefits

The General Pension and Social Security Authority confirmed that registration and subscription on behalf of the insured represents the first step towards fulfilling the insurance benefits assigned to them upon completion of the periods necessary to obtain the retirement pension, end-of-service gratuity, or disability and death compensation.

The Acting Director of the Pension Operations Department, Muhammad Saqr Al Hammadi, explained that “registration and subscription for citizens working in the public and private sectors is mandatory under the provisions of Federal Law No. 7/ of 1999 for Pensions and Social Security and its amendments,
Which obliges employers to register the insured immediately upon joining work when the conditions of coverage apply to him, with the exception of military retirees who were appointed in the federal government after the date of November 15 1999 according to Cabinet Resolution No. /21/ of 1999.

He pointed out that "every citizen who works for an employer must verify whether that entity has registered him with the authority, and he must initiate contacting the authority if it appears to him that he has not been registered to protect his rights and the rights of his family."

And he indicated that participation in insurance protects the insured and his family from potential work risks, as the insured is entitled to a pension in the event of his death or an injury that causes him to lose the ability to work, even if he was jointly insured for one day, and that the pension extends its effect to include the beneficiaries who were dependent on them after his death. This requires care to ensure his registration and participation in order to protect his future and his family.

Al Hammadi said that the conditions for registration and subscription for the insured in the authority’s insurance system are that the insured’s age is not less than eighteen years and not more than sixty, and that he is healthy to work upon appointment according to a medical report from the medical authority approved by the authority, as required, In order to participate, the insured must have the nationality of the United Arab Emirates, indicating that everyone who obtains the nationality of the country at any time shall be subject to all the provisions related to registration and subscription.
