The Head of the Financial Crimes and Money Laundering Prosecution stated that the High Criminal Court issued its ruling today convicting an accused of laundering money that he seized from a woman with the intention of investing it for her without obtaining a license.

The Public Prosecution had received a report from the Financial Intelligence Department about the investigations that resulted in the accused seizing the money of a woman he claimed he would invest in her in exchange for monthly interests and returning the capital to her, and then made deposits and financial transfers to his accounts in the Kingdom of Bahrain with the intention of concealing source and show that it is legitimate money.

Accordingly, the Public Prosecution issued its decision to disclose and seize his money and accounts, which confirmed that the accused obtained an amount of 180,000 dinars from the victim during the years 2015 and 2016, through two complainants and conducted banking operations on them with the intention of showing that they were legitimate funds, and the Public Prosecution ordered his referral to the court, which issued Its verdict is to convict the accused.
