Bahrain International Airport, which is operated and managed by Bahrain Airport Company, has received a 5-star rating, the highest of its kind in the safety measures to combat the Corona Virus (Covid-19) at airports, as the airport succeeded in achieving the highest international standards in terms of hygiene and safety protocols that limit from the spread of the virus. Thus, Bahrain International Airport is among the elite 5% of the cleanest air ports around the world.

Bahrain International Airport received this high-level rating following a comprehensive audit of all COVID-19 safety standards conducted by Skytrax, a global specialist, over a period of 3 days this December. This safety accreditation represents the global standard that guarantees customers a safe travel experience at all levels, and is considered an acknowledgment of the effectiveness of the safety measures applied by Bahrain Airport Company at Bahrain International Airport to protect passengers and employees from the spread of the Corona virus.

The audit included 175 different safety protocols specifically related to the COVID-19 pandemic, all of which will reduce the risk of infection and enhance the safety of customers and employees. The audit procedures reviewed the effectiveness of health, hygiene and safety measures applied in accordance with the recommendations of the ICAO Council Working Group for the Revitalization of the Aviation Sector (CART) in addition to the requirements issued by the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain. This 5-star rating in safety measures against COVID-19 means that the airport has succeeded in implementing very high standards of hygiene and maintenance, while maintaining strict adherence to these protocols at all times and consistently.
