With the beginning of the new year approaching, and the date of implementing the new value-added law, the phenomenon of the disappearance of cigarettes of all kinds from grocery stores and supermarkets reappeared in the Bahraini market remarkably.

A number of consumers complained about the disappearance of cigarettes from grocery stores in several regions in the Kingdom, which has become recurring at the end of each year, especially with the approaching date of the increase in their prices.

Consumers believed that the reason for its deliberate disappearance at the end of the year was due to the approaching date of applying the increase in value added, as groceries buy from authorized agents, and store the quantities with them, and not put them before the consumer, in order to reduce their availability in the markets, so they can Sell it on the black market.

The speakers called on the concerned authorities, led by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, to do their part, to prevent these illegal practices.
