The Shura Council approved, during its session yesterday, Decree-Law No. 16 of 2021 amending some provisions of the Labor Law in the private sector, aimed at eliminating the gap between male and female workers in the private sector, by prohibiting gender discrimination in work of equal value.
The law provides for the abolition of the authorization of the Minister of Labor and Social Development to specify the conditions and jobs in which it is prohibited to work for divorced women or to work at night, by abolishing legal obstacles that limit the achievement of equality between women and men.
The Shura Council passed a decree-law to transfer the competencies of oversight over nurseries from the Ministry of Labor and Social Development to the Ministry of Education.
The Council unanimously approved Decree-Law No. 23 of 2021 amending some provisions of the Child Law promulgated by Law No. 37 of 2012, with the aim of implementing the early education development strategy.
