Re-running school canteens to provide meals for students but with conditions

School principals reported that they had received instructions from the Emirates Foundation for School Education to restart school canteens

School principals reported that they had received instructions from the Emirates Foundation for School Education to restart school canteens, to provide meals for students in government schools across the country.

The school principals, who preferred not to be named, added that the reactivation of the school feeding service will be in cooperation with the food supply companies approved by the Foundation, within the framework of the health procedures included in the Guide to the Safe Return of Governmental Schools.

The "Safe Return to Governmental Schools" guide, in its amended version, stressed the necessity of the school administration's commitment to implement seven measures to ensure "food safety", including ensuring that food suppliers and their workers adhere to all procedures and general controls for school service providers, and applying precautionary measures in cases of shared food and buffets, Concerning food and beverages in private and common dining halls.

Food safety measures include the necessity of providing sterile meals for students in the classrooms in the kindergarten and first cycle and people of determination to avoid crowding, and allowing students of the second and third cycles to go to food outlets in school canteens, taking into account the application of safe physical distance.
