The UAE has announced a new and integrated path for residency in the country as part of the updates to the residency law, with a package of improvement measures that keep pace with the state's directions for the next stage.
The updates included the green residency system that separates the residence permit from the work permit, so that self-residency is for the individual or employee and not for the company, and targets highly skilled, investors, entrepreneurs, early students and graduates, in addition to the first free residency of its kind at the federal level, which is intended for workers in general. Independent for their own account, in addition to updates and other additional privileges to the residency system in the country.
The introduction of the "Green Visa" system constitutes a fundamental change in the residency system in the UAE, which is self-residency for the individual or employee, through which the residence permit is separated from the work permit. The system targets highly qualified and skilled holders of a bachelor's degree and above, as well as investors, entrepreneurs, early students and graduates. It includes a set of new privileges different from the normal residence, such as extending the residence period of children over their families up to 25 years and granting residence to parents, and a period of 90-180 days upon expiry of the residence instead of 30 days.
The Freelancers Visa system, the first of its kind at the federal level, has been introduced and is intended for freelancers without the need for a work permit and an employment contract.
Multiple legislative and procedural improvements
In addition to the legislative and procedural improvements to the residency law, the most prominent of which is extending an entry permit to visit a work mission for a long trip to 6 months instead of 3 months, adding the parents within the resident’s residency - the residence permit of family members – and allowing the extension of the residence of humanitarian cases to another additional year to enable the breadwinner to Obtaining a job in the country, raising the age of children included in their parents’ residency from 18 to 25, and extending the mandatory period of time to leave the country in case of job loss or retirement for a period of 90 to 180 days, and these improvements are unique, even at the level of countries in the world. And it deals with many groups in a positive way, as is always the approach of the United Arab Emirates.
An integrated system for accommodations
Thanks to these amendments, the UAE will have a system that is the first of its kind in the world, characterized by an integrated path for residency, including regular, green and gold.
