Light 1 is the fruit of cooperation between the Emirates Space Agency, the National Space Science Authority in Bahrain, Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi and New York University Abu Dhabi, and it is a nanometric satellite.

It is expected that the joint Emirati-Bahraini satellite "Daw'a 1" will be launched to the International Space Station today, to culminate the efforts of cooperation in the space sector between the UAE and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

"Light 1" will be launched on board the SpaceX CRS-24 flight and will be carried by the "Falcon 9" missile, after it has undergone a number of tests to simulate the space environment, such as heat and vibration tests, in addition to communication tests and a review of the satellite's safety procedures. Light 1 will arrive at the International Space Station. Later, it will be controlled and brought into orbit under the supervision of the Japan Space Agency.
