His Excellency the Minister of Labor and Social Development, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labor Market Regulatory Authority, Mr. Jamil bin Muhammad Ali Humaidan, inaugurated today, Sunday, the Safe Migration Conference for Domestic Workers, which is organized by the General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions during the period from 21-22 November, in the presence of the Secretary-General The Federation, Mr. Abdul-Qader Abdul-Karim Al-Shihabi, and the President of the International Federation of Domestic Workers, Mrs. Martel Wet Boy, with the participation of representatives of trade union organizations and experts of specialized organizations from inside and outside the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The conference will address main axes related to protecting the rights of domestic workers, reviewing the legislation enacted by the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf in labor laws regarding the protection of these workers, especially with regard to work contracts and wages, and promoting international cooperation for safe migration of labor and protection from violence in accordance with international labor standards. As well as the conditions of the work environment and the role of embassies, ministries concerned with workers, trade unions and countries exporting domestic labor to ensure the rights of the employer, the employment office, and the domestic worker alike.

His Excellency the Minister indicated that Bahrain has provided many necessary protection systems for domestic workers, especially with regard to the necessity of contracting, determining the annual leave for the worker, end of service gratuity, exemption from litigation fees at all stages, and the right to submit labor complaints before the Ministry of Labor and Social Development for amicable settlement. and other legal provisions.
