A Canadian couple benefited from the new personal status law for non-Muslims in the UAE capital.
The Emirates, where about ten million people reside, 90% of whom are foreigners, allowed cohabitation and facilitated obtaining residence permits.
In early December, the UAE decided to change the weekend from Friday and Saturday to Saturday and Sunday, starting from 2022, and allocating a work week of four and a half days. It is the only Gulf country that has taken this step.
