The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority advised individuals while they are inside the house to follow some guidelines when there is thunder, the most important of which are:
■ Do not leave the house unless absolutely necessary. ■ Keep away from glass windows and doors. ■ Do not allow children to play outside the house. ■ Disconnect the power supply, and turn off the water network in the event of hurricanes. ■ Avoid showering as much as possible, because plumbing connections in the bathroom can conduct electric charges from lightning strikes. ■ Use mobile and wireless phones, as they are safe in the home.
