The Department of Health - Abu Dhabi, the regulatory and supervisory authority for the health care sector in the emirate, has announced the extension of the deadline for exemption from delay penalties incurred by health insurance subscribers until January 2, 2022, as part of its commitment to ensuring the continuity of access for all members of society to health care services.

The authority confirmed that the exemption includes individuals sponsored under individual sponsorship, such as domestic workers, children, parents, and individuals who are late in completing or renewing the health insurance subscription, and a fine of 300 dirhams will be imposed for each month of delay after the date of January 2, in addition to any other fines incurred before this exemption.

The department called on members of society to take advantage of the exemption period to subscribe or renew their subscription to the health insurance, in the context of ensuring the provision of health care services to all members of society in Abu Dhabi by ensuring the continuity of health insurance coverage for all participants and supporting them to access continuous and integrated health services whenever they need it.
