The Environment Agency in Abu Dhabi, in its capacity as the competent authority to issue hunting permits, has set six requirements to allow wild hunting in the emirate, noting the necessity of two conditions to obtain a hunting license, in accordance with the amended executive regulations issued by Resolution No. (69) of 2015 Local Law No. (22) ) for the year 2005, regarding the regulation of wild hunting in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and the authority is responsible for its implementation.

The authority clarified that there are six controls for issuing permits to hunt by traditional methods in areas outside the designated hunting areas, including prohibiting hunting any type of wild animal and causing inconvenience to them, preventing vehicles from driving on vegetation cover and causing damage to it, preventing the transfer of a hunting permit to another person, and the obligation to carry Permit while practicing fishing and present it to the competent authority and the concerned authorities upon request.

The rest of the requirements included observing the prohibition of fishing within the boundaries of pastoral reserves and natural reserves, or near prohibited areas, in addition to the need for the license to include the terms and conditions of the permission to hunt, including the licensed fisherman, the seasons and areas of fishing, the species licensed to hunt by traditional methods, and other things. The necessary conditions for implementing the provisions of the laws in force regarding the preservation of species and the consolidation and promotion of sustainable fishing by traditional methods. The authority indicated that the species permitted to hunt for falconers licensed with the Environment Agency in Abu Dhabi, include Houbara birds only, as hunting is permitted using falcons licensed and registered with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, provided that proof of their registration is submitted if requested, pointing to the Hunting Palace Traditionally in open areas, with the need to stay away from prohibited places such as nature reserves and forests, and residential, military and petroleum areas, with a distance of no less than two kilometers.

The authority specified two conditions that must be met to obtain a wild hunting permit, which included that the applicant should be a citizen of the UAE, and be at least 18 years old.

The authority attributed the procedures for making amendments to the executive regulations of the law of wild hunting in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, to be a tributary that supports the wild hunting sector in the emirate, and efforts to preserve the heritage of traditional hunting, especially the sport of falconry (falconry), and a desire to spread this authentic Arab heritage to current and future generations. And to encourage them to practice traditional fishing within legal and environmental controls, in addition to enhancing the economic value of natural resources, by diversifying and enhancing investment opportunities in the environmental field.
