UAE: Urgent .. New amendments to the employment law system

The Dubai International Financial Center, the world's leading financial center and the most prominent innovation center in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region, announced the adoption by the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in his capacity as Ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, the amended Employment Law No. (4) of 2021

The Dubai International Financial Center, the world's leading financial center and the most prominent innovation center in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region, announced the adoption by the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in his capacity as Ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, the amended Employment Law No. (4) of 2021 , which introduces amendments to the employment law system regarding the job qualification plan in line with the money-purchasing programs for employees of the Dubai Financial Services Authority, so that one law is applied to these systems.

The new amendments enhance clarity in some areas of the law, including the application of limitation periods to claims made under the Employment Act, leave entitlements, the length of the probationary period for short-term fixed-term contracts, and some of the specific conditions in the law.
The law also includes amendments to basic health and safety requirements in the workplace under the Employment Act to take into account work-from-home arrangements.
