Humaidan reviews Bahrain's successful experience in facing the repercussions of the Corona pandemic on the labor market before the Arab Labor Conference
His Excellency the Minister of Labor and Social Development, Mr. Jamil bin Muhammad Ali Humaidan, delivered the Kingdom of Bahrain’s speech before the work of the 47th session of the Arab Labor Conference, held in the Arab Republic of Egypt, from 5 to 12 September 2021.
In his speech, the Minister of Labor and Social Development reviewed the esteemed government’s efforts to confront the health, economic and social effects of the Corona pandemic, referring to the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, may God protect him, and with the vigorous follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, has allocated a large part of the financial package dedicated to combating the negative effects of the pandemic, to ensure labor market stability and social protection for the workforce.
The Minister pointed out that the government launched several financial support programs for the affected facilities, in addition to granting extensive financial facilities to maintain contractual relationships and reduce job losses, while ensuring the continued ability of the various productive sectors to generate new jobs and maintain growth rates and economic stability.
Humaidan touched on the repercussions of the Corona pandemic on the labor sector in various countries of the world, stressing in this context that the sector is one of the sectors most affected by the repercussions of this global pandemic, and called for drawing lessons and lessons from this experience, and intensifying work to unify the efforts of the three production parties in Arab countries in order to overcome the negative effects of this pandemic on the Arab labor markets and workforce.
In his speech, Humaidan also reviewed the efforts and initiatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of supporting entrepreneurship, noting the vital role that these projects play in supporting the economy and creating new job opportunities.
The Minister of Labor and Social Development stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain is working continuously to develop programs directed at young entrepreneurs in general, in addition to the support directed to ensure the sustainability of modern projects and devote the approach of excellence and competitiveness by launching many initiatives to enhance the status of these institutions and upgrade their role to be an active contributor to the national economy At the same time, he referred to the programs designated to support entrepreneurs by obtaining concessional financing from approved banks, in addition to providing various facilities to support the establishment of new projects.
Humaidan also referred to the support programs allocated to entrepreneurs through the Labor Fund (Tamkeen), through financial support and funding of training programs for young people aspiring to establish their own projects, as well as other facilities provided in the field of employment and training for cadres who join such sectors.
