The UAE realizes that achieving development and getting out of the predicament of poverty in many countries of the world can only be achieved by creating a healthy environment suitable for all the population, and from this standpoint it continues its efforts to eliminate the 5 most important diseases that hinder development in developing countries, by providing financial, technical and medical assistance, to become one of the Major donors in the field of economic development and humanitarian response, to rid the world of these diseases: polio, malaria, guinea worm disease, river blindness and lymphatic filariasis.

On January 30 of each year, the celebration of the International Day of Neglected Tropical Diseases coincides with the efforts of the UAE and its partners to eliminate tropical diseases, which affect more than one and a half billion people in developing and poor countries, in addition to their negative consequences on the economies of those countries. Which incurs billions of dollars annually, and for that day to be a celebration of the gains made over a decade, and a call for more investments and efforts to eradicate these diseases.
