Starting from the next day, the decision of the federal government of the United Arab Emirates will be implemented on all citizens and residents of the country.
The UAE government had announced that the new system of weekly work for the federal government sector in the country will be four and a half working days, from Monday to Thursday, and half a working day on Friday. The government stated that the weekly holiday will be on Saturday and Sunday, starting from January 1, 2022, and that Sunday, January 2, will be an official holiday.
The decision applies to all entities in the federal government sector in the country, as the official working hours, based on the new decision, will be from 7:30 in the morning to 3:30 in the afternoon from Monday to Thursday, 8 working hours, according to the official news agency.
On Friday, working hours will be from 7.30 am to 12:00 pm (4 and a half hours), and working hours will be announced later in government schools in the country. The new system will include the possibility of applying flexible working hours and the remote work system on Friday in the federal authorities, provided that the federal authorities approve the implementation mechanisms, and as required by the interest of the workflow in these authorities. Also, according to the decision, the timing of the Friday sermon and Friday prayers was standardized, to be 1:15 in the afternoon at the state level throughout the year.
As for the Emirate of Sharjah, it announced its commitment to the government's decision and added that Friday should be a complete holiday.
