This document outlines the official approvals that are required for foreign nationals to obtain a work permit in Canada.

Biometrics to obtain work permits in Canada.

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has implemented a temporary provision that exempts applicants who are applying for a work permit from within Canada. After receiving a letter containing instructions for biometrics, candidates who are not from Canada are still required to provide their biometric information.

In order to provide your biometric information, you should follow the procedures provided by the Canadian government on their specialized page.

Approval from the police for work permits in Canada.

It's possible that the visa officer who is assessing your application will request that you present certifications of clearance from the police.

This document may be included on your application checklist and must be submitted together with your first submission. The inclusion of this document is contingent upon the country from which you are submitting.

It is possible that applicants for work permits would need to present a police clearance certificate from every nation in which they have resided for a period of six months or more after reaching the age of 18.

In order to obtain a work permit in Canada, a medical examination is required.

Depending on the amount of time they intend to remain in Canada, the country in which they have previously resided, and the profession in which they wish to work, foreign nationals who seek employment in Canada may be required to undergo a medical examination.

With a few notable exceptions, you will most likely not be required to have a medical examination if you intend to work in Canada for a period of less than six months. You will be required to have a medical examination regardless of whether you intend to work in a position that requires you to interact closely with individuals or whether you are an agricultural worker who has traveled to specific nations.

If any of the following circumstances are met, you will be required to have a medical examination if you intend to work in Canada for a period of time that is greater than six months:

For a period of six months or more, you have resided in or traveled to any of the countries that are listed on the page titled "Find out if you need a medical exam" on the Canadian government website. You have the intention of working in a profession that will engage you in close interaction with the individuals listed in the links that were provided earlier.A panel physician that the IRCC has appointed must conduct the patient's health examinations. You can locate a panel physician in your area by visiting the Find a Panel Physician tab on the IRCC website.

Applicants are given the opportunity to have a pre-employment medical examination. To accomplish this, you will need to make direct contact with the panel physician and then take the examination before filing an application for a work permit. In the event that you do not include the results of your medical exam with your application, the officer from the IRCC will send you instructions on how to finish the medical test and will also specify a deadline for when it needs to be finished.

Mandatory photographs are required for obtaining a work visa in Canada.

When applying for a work permit in Canada, those who are not citizens of Canada are required to submit a photo that exceeds the dimensions of a passport. The photograph needs to be taken in accordance with the IRCC's requirements.

When will my application for a work visa be processed in Canada, and how long will it take?

The amount of time it takes to process an application for a work permit is contingent upon the type of permit being sought as well as the applicant's country of residence at the time the application is submitted. It can take anywhere from a few weeks to many months for the processing to be completed.
