Families in Canada are getting hundreds of dollars over the next few weeks, the first rebate of the year from the federal government's carbon pricing rebate program.
Many provinces in Canada are scheduled to benefit, including residents from (Labrador, Alberta, Newfoundland, Manitoba, Edward Island, Ontario, Prince's Island, Saskatchewan, Scotia, New Brunswick, and Nova).
Those people in the provinces where the federal carbon tax will be implemented will receive discounts through direct innovation or through checks starting Monday, as long as they file their income tax returns and benefits.
The amounts that Canadian families will receive
Environment and Climate Change Canada indicated in its statement that a family of 4 will receive payments according to each province as follows:
- Alerta: $386.
- Manitoba: $264.
- New Brunswick: $184.
- Newfoundland: $328.
- Labrador: $328.
- Nova Scotia: $248.
- Ontario: $244.
- Prince Edward Island: $240.
- Saskatchewan: $340.
It is worth noting that payments are calculated based on the number of adults and children in each family, as the amounts differ for the first and second adult.
The federal government estimates that 8 out of 10 households will receive more money in rebates than they pay as a result of the carbon tax, and the money will be transferred every 3 months.
Increase the rate of increase to 20% in April 2024
It is worth noting that the federal government in Canada will increase the rate of increase from 10 to 20% from the original, due to the high energy needs faced by this population, and it is expected to be implemented in April of this year 2024.
