Traffic disruptions are expected in Dubai for the UAE Tour Women cycling race. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced temporary road closures in Dubai to accommodate the UAE Tour Women cycling race on Thursday.
According to the RTA, specific roads will experience brief closures from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. as cyclists pass through intersections during the event. These closures will be implemented in coordination with the Dubai Police. It is advisable for drivers to carefully review the authority's provided route map before setting out on their journeys.
Dubai Police emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and guidelines during the event. They urged road users to exercise caution, reduce speeds, and consider alternative routes to minimize disruptions.
The second-ever UAE Tour Women cycling competition is set to happen from February 8th to the 11th. Starting in Dubai Miracle Garden and ending at Dubai Harbour, the first stage is 122 kilometers long and is called the Dubai Stage. Before crossing the finish line at Dubai Harbour, cyclists will pass through famous locations such as Global Village, Al Qudra Cycle Track, and Dubai Sports City.
This prestigious event, the only women's World Tour race in the Middle East, will feature 20 teams, each comprising six riders. Among them are 13 UCI Women’s World Teams and seven UCI Women’s Continental Teams, including defending champion Elisa Longo Borghini from Italy. The tour consists of four stages: the Dubai Stage, Modon Stage (113km), Presight Stage (128km), and Aldar Stage (105km).
The tour will continue with the second stage from Al Mirfa Bab Al Nojoum to Madinat Zayed in Abu Dhabi on Friday. The third stage will commence from Al Ain Police Museum to Jebel Hafeet on Saturday. The event will conclude with the fourth and final stage, starting at the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum and ending at Abu Dhabi Breakwater.
